It does resolve to, but that address is directly reachable
through the VPN.  I can 'ssh' just fine.  I can also 'lynx' which shows that HTTP_HOST= .

It is interesting that if I set the rootserver to, then I
get 'GetRootVolume: can't get root volume name!' errors, so some
something is clearly breaking.

Drat, I had my hopes up for a minute for an easy fix, but no such luck.
masquerade is already set (it's the Debian default).  I don't know if
it makes a difference, but masquerade_port=0.

I would be happy to supply a packed dump of the VPN contents if it
would help.  Any other info I can supply that might help?
