Is venus still running?  It could have died on you.  Even if the
process looks to be running it may have gone zombie (depending on the
version you are running).  Try shutting down venus (vutil shutdown),
check venus actually dies - if it does not then kill it, then restart
venus.  See if that gets you back up and working.
