Ok, it doesn't do much today anyway. It used to be required, but now
it does nothing but tune some settings in venus.conf .

Sure, but this has nothing to do with 'cfs lv'.. You could read
and write to your server by equally just running

cd /coda/server
then
clog me_at_server
