That's part of the problem, all the documentation was painstakingly
converted from scribe format to linuxdoc-sgml, and by the time that was
done most distributions weren't even carrying the tools anymore because
everyone was switching to docbook-sgml, which seems to have been
superceded by docbook-xml by now.

So it is not just the text that gets outdated real fast, the tools to
convert it into printable format seem to have a short lifespan as well.
You might be able to find the required tools on an old RedHat-4.2/5.1 CD.
