Hmm...  /lib/modules/<kernel>/fs/coda.o is where the Coda makefile puts
the module.  On my RH systems, the original module was in
/lib/modules/<kernel>/kernel/fs/coda/coda.o.  You might want to check
/lib/modules/<kernel>/modules.conf to see which file is really being
used.  Also, look in /var/log/messages after you load the new module to
make sure you're loading the right version.  On my machine it shows:

Dec 18 10:57:06 samir kernel: Coda Kernel/Venus communications, v5.3.18,
coda_at_cs.cmu.edu
