Aaaaargh - it's even worse now! Here's my new disk layout:

1 $ sudo fdisk -l /dev/hda

Disk /dev/hda: 20.4 GB, 20416757760 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 2482 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

    Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1             1      1275  10241406    5  Extended
/dev/hda2          1276      1401   1012095   82  Linux swap
/dev/hda3          1402      1901   4016250   83  Linux
/dev/hda4          1902      2482   4666882+  83  Linux
/dev/hda5             1         4     30720+  83  Linux
/dev/hda6             4        44    322560+  83  Linux
/dev/hda7            44      1275   9888030+  83  Linux

. . . and here's the transcript tail:

- --------------------------------------------------------

Proceed, and wipe out old data? [y/n] y
