My FQDN is kryten.localdomain, but that doesn't work either:

root_at_kryten:~# cfs mkmount /coda/kryten.localdomain/mytest test
/coda/kryten.localdomain: Permission denied

I hope he understands that my problems derive from never having seen a
coda server set up. I just am not familiar yet, so I don't know what it
should look like.

BTW I now have six volumes created, rootvolume, test, test2-4. I am
worried about the first because the docs say I shouldn't mount anything
in the volume mounted on the root of the coda file system. (I dont even
know what volume is mounted on the root of the coda file system, if you
see what I mean).

Anyway, here's what I can see:

24 $ ll /coda
total 8
dr-xr-xr-x 2 root nogroup 2048 Sep 3 17:25 ./
drwxr-xr-x 27 root root 4096 Sep 3 15:49 ../
drwxrwxrwx 3 root nogroup 2048 Oct 19 1998
testserver.coda.cs.cmu.edu/

Great!

root_at_kryten:~# ll /vice
total 32
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 4 10:56 auth2
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 28 23:44 backup
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 4 11:08 db
- -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Sep 3 11:07 fs.lock
- -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7 Sep 3 11:01 hostname
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 3 11:07 misc
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 3 11:07 spool
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 4 10:56 srv
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Sep 3 11:11 vol
- -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Sep 3 11:07 volutil.lock

Looks plausible.

root_at_kryten:~# ll /vicepa
total 0
- -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Sep 3 11:03 FTREEDB

Looks a bit empty to me.

Does all that look OK? Other than that, I'm working blind. To
summarise, I have created six volumes. None contain anything, and none
are mounted. How do I:

1. mount the volumes
2. put data into them

Hope that describes my situation, TIA.
