Coda File System

Cacheing whole files only?

Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 21:00:01 +0200
Hello,

does venus cache whole files only? Is there a way to change this behavior?

The reason I'm asking is that I just set up a coda test environment and
started off by copying some mp3s back and forth, trying to play them and
such.

Then I did an "md5sum *.mp3" just to stress it a bit and I got "no space left
on device" errors. I soon realized that the problem stopped when I closed
xmms. I assume this is because xmms keeps each file in the playlist open,
thus causing venus to keep them all in the cache.

What happens when handling files larger than the local cache size?

(The client was being run on Linux 2.4.20 in this case.)

And while I'm posting anyway - what is the status of coda support in FreeBSD
5.1? Is it working? If so, it is up to the 6.0.1 level (with realms etc)?

Thanks!
