Coda File System

used disk space reported

I am a bit puzzled by cfs lv reports.

They agree to what volutil info on the servers says,
but it is not really the same as the total amount of data in a volume.

I have played with and put on Coda both the installation
archive > 70Mbyte and its installed tree - at least twice as big.

Then I did rm -rf on the installed tree, the compressed archive staying
intact. Then cfs lv reported < 8Mbyte space occupied, despite a ten times
bigger file being present.

Now I am putting another version on the same volume, both the compressed
archive and the installed tree, and the used space is growing
consistently, reported by volutil info as well as cfs lv.

I suspect this information is still wrong, as the reported space is still
under the sum of the files present in the volume (and they are not sparse

Curious how much I can rely on the disk used reports, and how probable is
that this inconsistency indicates some bigger problem.

I am curious (and would test, but I value the work done with the data on
the volume) what happens if I delete as much that the used space would
become negative?

Hope there is some explanation.
