This position is required to handle a wide variety of systems
programming, system administration, code distribution, and user support
tasks in the Coda and Odyssey projects.  The person filling this
position will have full responsibility for the robustness and smooth
functioning of the deployed Coda system, including but not limited to
system management, security, user accounts, backup and disaster
recovery, performance tuning, client and server installation, hardware
and software upgrades, and system maintenance.  As needed, this person
will create and modify software tools to assist in the performance of
these functions.  This person will be in charge of the Coda/Odyssey lab,
which houses the Coda servers, and will be responsible for its
maintenance and upgrading.  This person will interface with and assist
Coda users as well as external Coda developers.

QUALIFICATIONS:  B.S. in computer science or electrical engineering, or
equivalent relevant experience and knowledge; detailed knowledge of UNIX
operating systems organization and function, at the user and kernel
levels; demonstrated experience in systems integration and excellence in
programming UNIX system software in C and C++; ability to learn and
acquire expertise on complex, undocumented experimental software with
little or no external instruction or training; excellent interpersonal
skills; ability to interact effectively with users, other project
members, and external project collaborators; ability to lift and move
heavy computer equipment; ability to work extremely long hours as
necessary to track down critical problems and to recover from
catastrophic failures; ability to work under pressure amidst inflexible
deadlines and in situations requiring careful attention to detail;
ability to deal gracefully with irate users and developers; and
willingness to work on weekends and nights to meet deadlines and
emergencies required.  Master~s degree in computer science or electrical
engineering or equivalent; networking and system administration
experience; and experience with Windows/NT and Windows 95 systems
preferred.
